Personal Data Protection

Personal data at the Fisheries Service under the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Lithuania (hereinafter – the Fisheries Service) are processed in accordance with Order No. V1-4 of 17 January 2020 of the Director of the Fisheries Service “On the Implementation of the General Data Protection Regulation”.

The Senior Specialist of the General Affairs Division (information being updated) has been appointed as the institution’s Data Protection Officer (DPO). The main responsibility of the Data Protection Officer is to facilitate compliance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data (General Data Protection Regulation – GDPR). The Data Protection Officer promotes a data protection culture within the organisation and assists in implementing key GDPR requirements, including data processing principles, data subjects’ rights, data protection by design and by default, maintenance of records of processing activities, ensuring data security, and reporting personal data breaches.

Individuals (data subjects) may contact the Data Protection Officer regarding all matters related to the processing of their personal data and the exercise of their rights under the GDPR. The Data Protection Officer is required to maintain secrecy and confidentiality in the performance of their duties, in accordance with European Union and national legislation.
