Southern Region Pisciculture Division

The Southern Region Pisciculture Division comprises two subdivisions: Simnas and Laukysta. The Division rears coregonid fish, catfish, noble crayfish and, more recently, Atlantic sturgeon under recirculating aquaculture system conditions. Carp, tench, pike-perch and pike are reared in ponds. A particularly important feature of the Division is the RAS system installed in its incubation facility, which was adapted for the rearing of European eels in 2013.
